Your local fire and rescue authority will visit your premises to check that your fire risk assessment and fire prevention measures are appropriate. They also have the authority to take action if they believe your fire safety methods are not sufficient. You could receive one of several notices:
If you do not comply and take action based on the fire service's recommendations the penalties range from up to £5000 fine (for minor incidents), or major fines and up to 2 years’ imprisonment in more severe cases.
To ensure you are in complete compliance with the law you will require a regular fire risk assessment, which the team at BLS are qualified to provide – this ensures that you are not at risk of any of the penalties listed above.
